About us
Blossom means growth, resilience and grit. The name of ‘Blossom Care Psychology’ was given in honour of my mother who passed away in August 2019. Her Chinese name was ‘Golden Plum Blossom’. Our family motto was this Chinese idiom – ‘Without the continuous bitter cold, there can be no fragrant plum blossom’. We grew up watching my mother as a strong woman earning a living to raise a family of seven children and always being there for us. Her unconditional love towards her children were the motivating force for her to keep moving despite all of life’s challenges. She believed in me, saw the potential in me and supported me throughout my life. The way she showed me unconditional compassionate love in her parenting towards her children heavily influenced my personality, parenting and therapeutic work. My family is the reason for who I am and why I am so passionate about helping and supporting others.
In my personal and professional life, I have seen the pain and suffering within myself and families that I have worked with. I understand how important it is to have someone reliable who listens and empathises wholeheartedly with compassion, understanding your needs and finding ways to heal the pain and meet your needs. When these needs are met, we all have the potential to flourish and blossom. Since young, I have been deeply touched by the human suffering within myself and people close to me. I vowed to hold and heal that pain, see people grow and hence chose psychology as my life-long occupation at the age of 16 years old. I have learnt heaps from the families that I have worked with. I have witnessed the transformational therapeutic change that families and children go through when someone truly believes in them and provides them with emotional support and resources necessary to face life challenges during various major life transitions. Being a parent myself, I understand the joy as well as the challenges of being a parent. That extra person to hold your hands in your life journey is what we aim to provide at Blossom Care Psychology.
